Photo Art Friday....Vintage....

Photo Art Friday,
again...already.

Is it just me?  Or, is time speeding by?

This week, Bonnie asked us to do something
Vintage.

This is my take on the subject.

This old mailbox, is in front of the old, deserted house, from my last post.

I cloned out the mail inside the box.
Wonder just how long it has been there?

Then, I added Bonnie's textures...
'Brown Rice Paper', and 'Yesteryear'.
And, I put a frame from Photoscape.

It looks pretty
Vintage.

Nobody's Home...

Sometimes, I wish old buildings and homes could talk.
What kind of tails would they tell.

Along a once very country road, now with 'progress' creeping up,
you see signs of the past.

Who knows how many generations lived here.

But, nobody's home here, now.

Once maybe a nice property.  Is that a guest house, out back?
And, it has a tv antenna.  So, not really ancient.

If only walls could talk.

Texture Tuesday....Dream-Like Edition...

This week on Texture Tuesday, Kim challenged us
to create a wispy, dream-like photo.

I used a photo of a water lily, I took on a water hazard, at a golf course.
It was a warm sunny day, in Indian Wells, CA.

I used three of Kim's textures:
Sybil, Leslie and Violet.
Then, I softly removed a bit of the textures from the lily,
and the water line.

I desaturated  the background copy, to tone down the bright
pink of the lily, and the brightness of the leaves.

It all softened the original, quite a bit,
and gave it a dreamy, painterly feeling.

Photo Art Friday....Connect...

It's time for
Photo Art Friday.

This week, Bonnie has given us the prompt
connected/connecting/connection.

To connect is to join.
Kind of like what we do here.

Last fall, we took a trip out west.
Here, along Interstate 10....
which connects the East Coast, with the West Coast...
there is this large wind farm.

These giants produce power.  And power helps us all connect with
one another and the world.

I used two of Bonnie's textures.
Creative Canvas-- color burn @ 100%
Brown Rice Paper-- hard light @ 100%

On Chimney Valley Road...

On our back roads drive the other day, we took this little two lane road.

Chimney Valley Road.

Do you ever wonder why some roads have the names they do?
We did see some chimneys.  But, nothing that would warrant the name.

It's close by.  Maybe we'll take it again, some day.
There were plenty things to see.  I bet later in the spring or summer, it'll
be even more interesting.

We came across this house.

It could certainly use some TLC.
But, we decided that someone still lives here.
There's a not-too-old truck parked
just to the right of this photo.

And, there's a power line, running to the house from the road.

And, maybe running water?

Guaranteed peace and quiet.
Except for a crazy old woman, with a camera.

Back Roads.....

Driving the back roads.  Looking for things to photograph.

We took advantage of a beautiful day, and took a ride into the countryside.

Lots of things to see.  It's a dry winter.
Still chilly mornings.  But, the evergreen of the Live Oaks, and some winter grasses,
brighten up the scene.

This is one of the barns we saw.  Still being used.

She hasn't had many coats of paint.  But, for photos, that's a good thing.

I played around with some textures...

I used Kim Klassen's 'Mary', from her Downton Collection.
Then, I added some border techniques from Pixlr.

The original

Different angles, and different perspectives.
Kinda like life.

We had a great time.  And, I'll be showing you more of our finds.

Photo hunts.
This could be the start of something big.

Old Stone Barn....

Whew!
Just getting in under the wire, for this week's
Barn Charm.

I have no idea the age of this old barn.
It looks really old.
Not many people build barns with stone, anymore.

Old barn  with Kim Klassen textures.

It looks like it has a new roof.  And, the fences are in good shape.

And, sometime there was a lean-to section added on the back....or, was that the front?
I'd like to see that other side....but, I'm not nervy enough to sneak through that
barbed wire fence.
Besides, the house is not too far away.

View without texture

There looks like there are stables inside.  And, another add-on, too.
That's a pop-up greenhouse, inside the add-on.

Man...could I use that storage.

It's good to see a fine old barn, given good care.

Be sure to check out more barns at Tricia's

Texture Tuesday....Heart Edition...

This week on
Texture Tuesday,
Kim asked us to use a photo depicting Love or Hearts.

What better than Valentine's heart candies.

I used two layers of Kim's
'Cherish Scripted',
and one layer of her
'Pourvous'.

I did a PSE filter (watercolor) and desaturated 'Pourvous'.
I also desaturated a copy of the background.
And, I selectively removed some texture.

The frame is from Photoscape.

It works.

Texture Tuesday...Pop of Color...

This week, for
Texture Tuesday,
Kim has asked us to use one of her textures
on a photo that has a POP of color.

Back in September, we took a trip out to California,
for a golf tournament in the Palm Springs area.
The tournament was at
Indian Wells Golf Resort.

There are lots of POPS of color, at these desert resorts.

I picked a photo I was lucky to get, of a
Western Flame Tanager.

I added two layers of Kim's new texture
'Havana'....one @ soft light, and one @ linear burn.

The texture added a softness to the background.
Thanks Kim.

Photo Art Friday....Minimalist....

Friday, already.
Time for another
Photo Art Friday.

This week, Bonnie challenged us  with the subject 'Minimalist'.
It's always interesting to see how each of us interprets the prompts.

I'm not much of a 'minimalist'.  So, I was having a bit of trouble deciding what to do.

Then, when I went out for the paper this morning, this moon greeted me.

I ran inside for my camera, and was able to get a couple pretty good shots.

I did some editing in Photoscape.  This is just auto contrast.
Interesting how just that changed the color of the sky so much.

Then, I added one of Bonnie's great textures in PSE 9.
This is 'Fleeting Memory' at lighten, 100%.
I lightly removed a bit of the texture on the edge of the moon.

It looks a little dreamy...dreamlike... to me.
