Texture Tuesday...Free and Easy...

This one was fun.

I used two of Kim Klassen's textures...
If Only & Pourvous.

I did a little filter work with PSE and added a frame on Photoscape.

Then, I forgot to write any of it down.

Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers.

Texture Tuesday...Outdoor Edition...

This week's challenge at
Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday,
is a photo taken outdoors, with one layer of Kim's textures.

We have an ongoing battle with the squirrels around here.
As you can see, we don't always win that battle.

I used two layers of Kim's 'Poetic' texture.
Both @ multiply 100%.
Then, I masked off the textures on the squirrel and most of the feeder.

Be sure to hop over to Kim's, for more great texture work.

So here goes.  The search is on for some photos that will fit.  The prompts this week are:
  • Wrapped
  • Time Together
  • Tell Me a Story
  • Love or Couple
  • Duplicated

Wrapped:  The Hyacinth Bean vine is wrapped around the fence.

Time Together:  Two of our grandchildren hang out on the swing...spending time together.

Tell Me a Story: "Well you see, Pop...I made this fort with my Legos, and..."

Love or Couple:  Well, we love this couple, and the team they represent.

Duplicated:  Back to the deer again.  The babies seem to come in two and threes.

Texture Tuesday...July 17..X 2 Edition....

Wow!
Here we are at Texture Tuesday, again.

This week's challenge is easy.  Just use at least two of Kim Klassen's textures.

I actually used three.

'Providence' twice @ colorburn 100%
'Oh My' twice @ soft light 100%
'And Then Some' once @ multiply 100%
Then added a frame from Photoscape.

Here's the original.

Thanks Kim, for the textures.
And, for hosting..

Scavenger Hunt Sunday...July 15

I've been seeing several photo blogs participating in the
Sunday Scavenger Hunt.
It looks like fun.  So, here goes with mine.

This week's challenge is:

WATER
Back in March, we had quite a bit of rain around here.
It was very welcome, after the long drought we've been through.
This is the low water crossing on Cypress Creek, which runs through our neighborhood.

PETAL
Vibrant petals of a Moy Grande Hibiscus bloom, at the San Antonio Botanical Garden.
These are dinner-plate sized blooms.

FRESH
We live in deer country.
This little guy is one of the fresh new crop.

EIGHT
Because the squirrels and the birds seem to end up with too many of our tomatoes,
we bring them in and let them ripen on the window ledge.

CALM
The Blanco River runs through our town.
I had to go back to 2009 for this fall photo.
Hopefully, there will be this much water for reflections again this year.

This was fun, finding photos to meet the challenge.

If you want to see more, hop over to

Photo Art Friday...Fences...

This week on Photo Art Friday, the theme is
'Fencing'.

I'm not sure an old Spanish mission qualifies, but here goes.

The San Antonio Mission Trail is quite interesting.
There are five missions, dating back to the 18th century.  Most still have working churches.

The photo above is a courtyard at Mission San Jose.
There are many fences...more like walls...at these missions.
They were places of safety, learning and faith.

I edited my image with two of Bonnie's Pixel Dust textures...
'painterly' @ mulitply 64%
and, 'Yesteryear' @ soft light 100%.
I used a watercolor filter on the background copy,
and added a frame from Photoscape.

It gives it a nice vintage look.

Texture Tuesday...Natural Edition...

Our prompt this week for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday is
Natural.

What's more natural that a beautiful butterfly, on wild Verbena?

We had so many, in the meadow behind our house.

I desaturated the image.
Then, added two layers of Kim's texture ' And Then Some'...
once @ multiply 100%
once @ soft light 90%
Then a layer of Kim's 'Oh My' @ hard light 79%
And, a layer of Kim's 'Cracker Jack' @ multiply 100%

I masked most of the textures off a couple blooms and the butterfly.

It came out nice and soft.

Here's the original.

Hop over to Kim's place, and see some beautiful texture work.

Photo Art Friday...Architecture...

Rooftops of Cartegena, Columbia.

Last year, we took a cruise to the
Panama Canal.
One port of call, was Cartegena, Columbia.

Cartegena is an old, walled city.  It was interesting, seeing all the old buildings...the people on the streets and a whole different way of life.

This photo was taken on the way back to the ship.  Churches...the dome of a guard house on the old city wall, and a tiled roof of an old building.

It's textured with two layers of PPDA Grunge Surprise texture...
once @ overlay & once @ multiply 43%.

I'm linking to

Go over and see some good photo art.
