Texture Tuesday...Anything Goes...

This week, for
Texture Tuesday,
Kim is letting us post any photo....textured or not.

I chose a photo of a Whitewing Dove, from last summer.

I added two of Kim's textures...
1402 Magic
and, Yesteryear.
I wiped the Yesteryear texture off the dove.

Then, I applied a PSE effect...Old Paper.

Turned out pretty good.

Texture Tuesday....Dream-Like Edition...

This week on Texture Tuesday, Kim challenged us
to create a wispy, dream-like photo.

I used a photo of a water lily, I took on a water hazard, at a golf course.
It was a warm sunny day, in Indian Wells, CA.

I used three of Kim's textures:
Sybil, Leslie and Violet.
Then, I softly removed a bit of the textures from the lily,
and the water line.

I desaturated  the background copy, to tone down the bright
pink of the lily, and the brightness of the leaves.

It all softened the original, quite a bit,
and gave it a dreamy, painterly feeling.

Back Roads.....

Driving the back roads.  Looking for things to photograph.

We took advantage of a beautiful day, and took a ride into the countryside.

Lots of things to see.  It's a dry winter.
Still chilly mornings.  But, the evergreen of the Live Oaks, and some winter grasses,
brighten up the scene.

This is one of the barns we saw.  Still being used.

She hasn't had many coats of paint.  But, for photos, that's a good thing.

I played around with some textures...

I used Kim Klassen's 'Mary', from her Downton Collection.
Then, I added some border techniques from Pixlr.

The original

Different angles, and different perspectives.
Kinda like life.

We had a great time.  And, I'll be showing you more of our finds.

Photo hunts.
This could be the start of something big.

Texture Tuesday....Heart Edition...

This week on
Texture Tuesday,
Kim asked us to use a photo depicting Love or Hearts.

What better than Valentine's heart candies.

I used two layers of Kim's
'Cherish Scripted',
and one layer of her
'Pourvous'.

I did a PSE filter (watercolor) and desaturated 'Pourvous'.
I also desaturated a copy of the background.
And, I selectively removed some texture.

The frame is from Photoscape.

It works.

Texture Tuesday...Pop of Color...

This week, for
Texture Tuesday,
Kim has asked us to use one of her textures
on a photo that has a POP of color.

Back in September, we took a trip out to California,
for a golf tournament in the Palm Springs area.
The tournament was at
Indian Wells Golf Resort.

There are lots of POPS of color, at these desert resorts.

I picked a photo I was lucky to get, of a
Western Flame Tanager.

I added two layers of Kim's new texture
'Havana'....one @ soft light, and one @ linear burn.

The texture added a softness to the background.
Thanks Kim.

Texture Tuesday...Minus 43 Edition..

It's Texture Tuesday time again.
Where did last week go?

Kim has asked us this week to use one of her new, wonderful textures...
Minus 43.

Last September, we took a trip to the
Grand Canyon.
It's an amazing place.

One of the have-to-see places is the
Desert View Watchtower.
Designed by Mary Colter, and built in the 1930s, it was patterned after
the buildings of early Native Americans.

You get a great view of the canyon and the painted desert, off to the east.

I used two layers of Kim's texture...one on multiply and one on vivid light.

Texture Tuesday....Free & Easy...

This week, for Texture Tuesday,
we can use any photo, with at least one layer of one of Kim's great textures.

If you saw my last post, you had to know I'd have to do something with that terrific old rusty truck.

I edited in Photoscape, and added a watercolor pencil filter.
Then, over to PSE and added a layer of Kim's 'Be Still' texture.

I'm not sure what setting or what opacity.
I forgot to write that down.

Aren't old trucks and old buildings great for texture work?
The texture adds more grunginess (is that a word?) and interest.

Texture Tuesday...A Cuppa...

Texture Tuesday is back.

Kim challenged us to submit a photo of a favorite cup, edited with one of her textures.

It's cold and cloudy, here in Central Texas.
Well....cold for here.

A nice mug of hot coffee and a couple meringue cookies seemed just right.

I did a watercolor filter in PSE 9.
Then I added two layers of Kim's 'Reentry' and a layer of 'Burnt Edges'.

It's a little dark.  But, I think I like it.

This week on

kimklassendotcom

it's anything goes.
Not Necessarily Textured.

So, I'm sharing a photo I really like, of the Hyacinth Bean.
This plant has lovely purple blooms.  Then, the seed pod/bean is a dark merlot purple.

Texture Tuesday...Free & Easy Edition...

Texture Tuesday again....the last one of the month.
Where did the summer go?

This week is Free and Easy...means anything goes.

Morning light coming through the leaves on the hyacinth bean, make those leaves glow.
I added one of Kim's textures, 'Serious Magic'.
It made it even more dramatic.

Texture Tuesday...August 7, 2012...Anything Goes...

This week for Texture Tuesday, we can submit any photo....doesn't have to have a texture.

Since I forgot....again...to write down what I did to this one,
it works for me.

So, here goes.

This little guy was having a lot of fun getting nectar from the hyacinth bean.
These are fast little creatures.  Hard to get a good shot.

I think I used some of Kim's textures...but, I just don't remember....sigh.

Hop over to Kim Klassen's place, and see some great photos.

Texture Tuesday...Free and Easy...

This one was fun.

I used two of Kim Klassen's textures...
If Only & Pourvous.

I did a little filter work with PSE and added a frame on Photoscape.

Then, I forgot to write any of it down.

Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers.

Texture Tuesday...Outdoor Edition...

This week's challenge at
Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday,
is a photo taken outdoors, with one layer of Kim's textures.

We have an ongoing battle with the squirrels around here.
As you can see, we don't always win that battle.

I used two layers of Kim's 'Poetic' texture.
Both @ multiply 100%.
Then, I masked off the textures on the squirrel and most of the feeder.

Be sure to hop over to Kim's, for more great texture work.

I actually used three.

'Providence' twice @ colorburn 100%

'And Then Some' once @ multiply 100%
Then added a frame from Photoscape.

Here's the original.

Thanks Kim, for the textures.

Texture Tuesday...Natural Edition...

Our prompt this week for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday is
Natural.

What's more natural that a beautiful butterfly, on wild Verbena?

We had so many, in the meadow behind our house.

I desaturated the image.
Then, added two layers of Kim's texture ' And Then Some'...
once @ multiply 100%
once @ soft light 90%
Then a layer of Kim's 'Oh My' @ hard light 79%
And, a layer of Kim's 'Cracker Jack' @ multiply 100%

I masked most of the textures off a couple blooms and the butterfly.

It came out nice and soft.

Here's the original.

Hop over to Kim's place, and see some beautiful texture work.

Texture Tuesday....Floral Beauty...

The Theme for this week's Texture Tuesday is
flowers.

I took this photo of a Gomphrena 'Fireworks' bloom,
and turned it into something calmer.

I used two layers of Kim's 'Oh My' texture...one @ softlight & one @ screen.
Then a layer of her 'Luminous' @ multiply.

I masked the textures off the flower, and then desaturated it all.  Then, I added a frame from Photoscape.

I think I like it.

I don't seem to have saved the original.  But, here's another picture of the same plant.
See the 'Fireworks'?

Be sure to go over to Kim's and see some nice texture work.
